My thoughts: we need consistent, immediate & honest evaluation, feedback & criticism.
We have a tendency to measure ourselves against the people around us. They become our point of reference. A good coach will evaluate your performance against your potential.

Why do I like it? Because, I am instinctively careful about certain things. Like what?
I am careful with the church budget.
I am careful to say "Thus says the Lord" to a project or direction.
I am careful to rightly divide the word of the Lord.
I am careful to give a prophetic word to another person.
I am careful toward the opposite sex. I don't want to put myself in a compromising situation.
I am careful with my calendar. I don't want to get too busy that I lose my devotional life.

A quick clarification
I am careful to say "Thus says the Lord" to a project or direction.
What I mean is this: I don't quickly or lightly say "Thus says the Lord." I think ministers overuse that phrase. I try to be sure and certain that God really did speak to me before I say "thus says the Lord."
